Here at Moorview Vets, we are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team! The role will involve all general nursing duties such as surgery/medicine workups, clinics and inpatient care before, during and after surgery.

We are looking for someone who is happy to work in a large team and who can provide high quality clinical care to all pets. The position will be mainly based at two of our branches in Backworth and Shiremoor with some time spent at our other consulting branches.

This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, 5 days per week with a mixture of shifts from week to week between 7.30am -8pm. The Saturday shifts work out in around one in seven, 8.30am-5pm, time is given back for Saturday hours the following week on the Monday. One bank holiday a year is required (excluding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day).

Our main hospital site is located within walking distance of the extensive Metro rail network and on various local cycle routes.

We are a long established first opinion, small animal veterinary practice with 6 primary care branches in the North East and we have a large group of staff. We are one of the only North East first opinion practices with a CT scanner in the premises, the rest of our equipment is modern including in-house lab, digital x-ray, ECG, ultrasound, Laparoscopy and dental x-ray.

We have a great team of Nurses including 10 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 3 Student Veterinary Nurses and 3 Animal Care Assistants. Several of our Nurses are trained in schedule 3 procedures, allowing our Vets time to deal with more complex cases, and we also have Registered Veterinary Nurses working towards further qualifications in ECC, behaviour, and feline nursing.

There is a great atmosphere amongst the staff and help is always at hand for the trickier cases! In the Vets team we have medical, surgery and emergency critical care certificate holders as well as rabbit and dental enthusiasts. Within the nursing team we have exotic, medicine certificate holders and clinical coaches.

CPD is supported and actively encouraged within the team. The practice is friendly, with good communication among the staff and in normal circumstances there would be opportunities to meet outside of work to socialise.
