We are a wonderful, first opinion and hospital practice located in Blackburn, which is 45 minutes from Manchester or Liverpool and just over an hour to the Lake District. Good train services mean London and Edinburgh are only just over two hours away. In the Ribble Valley there are many outdoor pursuits and sports teams, with areas of outstanding natural beauty right nearby.

We have a very supportive and friendly team of 14.7 FTE Vets and 26 FTE RVNs. Within our fantastic team, we have 2 x Medicine certificate holders, 2 x Surgery certificate holders, 1 x Anaesthesia certificate holder and 1 x Dentistry certificate holder.

Practice facilities include digital x-Ray, dental x-ray, CT scanner, advanced ultrasound scanner (echocardiography and abdominal ultrasound), ECG, bronchoscope, gastroscope, multiparameter monitors for GA, laparascopic surgical kit and K laser. We have advanced inpatient care working closely alongside Vetsnow who operate out of our main hospital, advanced soft tissue procedures - BOAS surgery, cholecystectomy Orthopaedic procedures - TTA, fracture repairs, luxating patella correction Chemotherapy courses administered at our main hospital. We also have a Vet with interest in Exotics, Medicine and Surgery.

Step into a supportive start

Your normal hours of work are 38 hours per week, 4 days a week. Monday to Friday from 8am to 7pm. You will also be required to participate in a weekend rota which will include working on Saturdays between 8am and 3.30pm, minimum 1 in 8, maximum 1 in 4.

New graduates have dedicated time per week to work on their VetGDP with
our trained VetGDP advisors. Surgical time is supported with an experienced Vet. Longer consults are given initially whilst settling into the role. We have a WhatsApp group for Vets to discuss cases and help each other out when needed. We are looking for new graduates to join our team and help us grow and develop as a practice alongside them. Certificate study is fully funded and encouraged. Our current Clinical Directors both started here as new graduates, so there is no ceiling!
