Unlock your passions at Bridge Vets

We have a wonderful practice situated within the South Wales valleys which provides easy access to both cities (Newport, Cardiff & Bristol) and countryside. The Brecon Beacons national park is on our doorstep providing opportunities for walking, climbing, cycling and horse riding.

We have a friendly and supportive team of 10 Vets, 6 RVNs, 2 SVNs, 3 Nursing Assistants, 2 Kennel Assistants. We have 3 CDs who all work in a clinical role so there is a wealth of experience and knowledge available to support new graduates. One of the CDs is a certificate holder in Medicine and is always happy to discuss cases.

Likewise, another of our CDs carries out a lot of advanced surgeries including orthopaedics. Our 3rd CD is a mental health first aider and is always on hand to provide support in adjusting to life in practice. There is always open discussion of cases amongst all our Vets which is encouraged.

Our team of RVNs are also used to their full capabilities which helps in time management for the Vets. Our previous graduates have flourished within our practice and have further developed their own skills within this supportive environment.

Our fantastic practice is fitted with the best equipment and facilities such as digital radiography, dental radiography, endoscopes, ultrasound. We also regularly carry out advanced surgical procedures including orthopaedics (TTA, TPLO etc.) Multiparameter monitors routinely used for all surgical patients.

Step into a supportive start

Your normal hours of work are 36 hours per week, 4 days a week. Monday to Friday between 08:30am and 19:00pm. You may also be required to participate in a weekend rota which will include working on weekends.

Bridge Vets is experienced in supporting new graduates in their first 2 years in practice and beyond. The graduate will be slowly introduced to the full range of cases presented and will have the opportunity to develop their skills in all areas of the practice. This will be primarily supported by our 3 experienced and knowledgeable Clinical Directors who all work alongside our other Vets in the clinical setting.

The graduate mentor in our practice is a Small Animal Medicine certificate holder and is always happy to give advice and encourage discussion of cases. One of our previous new graduates has commented that Bridge Vets was the best practice they could have started their career in. We encourage our Vets to focus their CPD on developing skills that will enable them to develop their role within the practice and we have supported several members of the team in working towards certificates.

Our Practice Manager is based full time at our main clinic to provide help and support in administration and HR matters We feel that we have the structure in place to be able to offer the appropriate level of support to a new graduate to ensure a good experience of transitioning into practice.
