Unlock your passions at Delaware Veterinary Group

We are a 1 st opinion practice located in Castle Cary which is a small traditional market town in Somerset. We are the only veterinary surgery here and also undertake farm animal work from the same purpose-built site. Castle Cary has a train station on the fastest line to London in the area and is well connected by road and rail to Bath, Bristol, Salisbury, Exeter and beyond. The surrounding countryside is fantastic with lots of walking and outdoor pursuit possibilities.

We are a friendly team of 5 Vets, 6 RVN's and 1 VCA who look out for each other’s wellbeing. We have a dedicated Wellbeing Team who make pancakes, organise barbeques, make Christmas wreaths and love to find any excuse to get everyone together. We meet for regular practice, team and clinical meetings. It is really important that everyone works hours that they can cope with and this can mean a different pattern for different people which we work to accommodate.

At Castle Cary we have a full range of facilities all in a purpose-built modern building. This includes digital x-ray including dental x-ray, endoscopy, ultrasound, ECG, prep room, theatre and separate imaging room. Dogs and cats have separate areas in the waiting room and separate kennel spaces. There are 3 consulting rooms and Nurses run clinics which reduce the vet workload for routine checks as far as possible.

Step into a supportive start

Your normal hours of work are 40 hours per week. Shifts are workable Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 7pm and on Saturdays between 8.30am and 1pm on a rota system. You will also be required to participate in a weeknight/weekend rota to supervise basic inpatient care which will include working on weekends and bank holidays.

We take a whole team approach to graduate support. Vets, Nurses and client care teams are totally invested in holistic training and development. Whilst one person will guide you through your VetGDP, everyone is on hand to help. We have recent experience in graduate support, and you can talk to Vets who have experienced our careful and bespoke development.
