Unlock your passions at South Wales Vets

We are a supportive, hard working, and friendly practice that aims to deliver the best possible customer service and clinical care to our patients. Our priority is to support all members of the team and provide a good work life balance. We are located in Newport. The cost of living in South Wales is considerably cheaper than some of the big cities.

We are not only close to Cardiff which is an incredible city with amazing pubs and restaurants but also close to the Brecon Beacons national park. There is excellent transport links around Newport and train ride to Cardiff is no more than 20 minutes. We can offer you the feel of a big city without the cost that often comes with living in a big city.

We have a fantastic Vet team of 9 FTE Vets (over 4 sites), 1 Vet with surgical certificate and does Orthopaedics, 1 Vet with a Medicine certificate. We also have a strong, supportive and hard working nursing team that always go the extra mile. We are a busy first opinion practice with an excellent case load for Vets to be able to learn and develop their skills both surgically and medically.

We have in house labs, digital x-ray and a new modern ultra -sound machine. Our practice has recently been fully refurbished and brand new. We take orthopaedic referrals from the local area. We have created a good environment to work in and are always open to input from the team to drive improvement and the practice forward.

Step into a supportive start

Your normal hours of work are 40 hours per week, 4 days a week. Monday to Friday between 08:30am and 7pm. You will be required to work one Saturday morning every 4 weeks. There are no out of hours or bank holidays!

Over the last 6 years we have supported, mentored and tutored at least 6 new grads specifically for the IVC new grad academy but also supported many more Vets at the practice. The new grads have always developed well both surgically and medically and have gone on to become great Veterinary Surgeons by the end of the Grad academy.

Graduates will get the support of two Clinical Directors with 14 years of experience each as well as other senior and experienced Vets and Nurses within the practice. We aim to deliver the best possible experience and support to make the new grad experience as enjoyable as possible. We have nearly 7 years of experience in supporting new graduates at the practice.
