Purchasing

Purchasing is one Global team leading supplier performance excellence to deliver a competitive edge to Jaguar Land Rover. The function is a business connector that realises vehicle design and engineering & partners with our suppliers to manage the supply of components into our manufacturing plants where we build modern & luxurious products that delight our customers.

Supplier Technical Assistance (STA)

The STA team is responsible for supplier quality throughout our vehicle portfolio, interacting with every part that goes into our cars, ensuring we deliver excellence. As a graduate you’ll have the opportunity to be involved in almost every aspect of one of our cars’ life cycle. You will focus on developing your manufacturing and problem-solving skills as you manage any quality concerns from new vehicle introduction through to warranty support on our vehicles. As well as the technical knowledge in general engineering specifics, you will be building and maintaining relationships with key contacts within the supply base and the Jaguar Land Rover community.

If you work in this team, you will be based in Solihull or Castle Bromwich, with potential to work in Wolverhampton or Halewood. You’ll be based in a combination of these manufacturing plants for the first 18 months in 6-month placements. Your final placement can be in more supplier facing role. These roles will help you improve your core problem solving and manufacturing skills.

Production Purchasing

Production Purchasing covers international markets and complex global deals and is a crucial area of our business. Joining our team as a Buyer, you’ll take on a portfolio of commodities from day one and handle challenges as diverse as the products we produce. From developing supplier strategies and managing relationships, to sourcing new products, analysing market trends, and negotiating costs, this will be your chance to make your mark. Join us and you could be supporting us in any of these areas: Exterior, Chassis, Digital, Electrical Hardware, Propulsion, Engines & Driveline, Interior, Aftermarket, Indirect & Special Vehicles.

If you work in this team, you will be based in Gaydon or Whitley and you will undertake at least two placements over the life of the programme (as well as specific projects as part of those placements).

What’s required

STA - You should be currently studying for, or have achieved, a degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing or any STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths) at 2:2 or higher. You’ll be a person who doesn’t shy away from challenge and grasps opportunity firmly with both hands and can demonstrate leadership experience and responsibility in managing projects, this will make you the perfect fit. If you have technical experience or exposure to the engineering industry through a past placement, or an ongoing interest in the automotive industry, then this may also support your application. 

We are looking for graduates with strong communication skills, who can present confidently whilst being eager to learn. Organisation, time-keeping and self-motivation are attributes you must possess, and we’ll also need you to have a full driving license for commuting between sites and suppliers.

Production Purchasing

Alongside a degree in Business; Economics; Supply Chain & Logistics; or other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths),at 2:2 or higher, you’ll have strong numerical and analytical competence, the ability to work effectively in a challenging environment and possess a never-ending commitment to delivering results. As travel between sites and suppliers will be required, a full driving license is also essential. You’ll have an innovative, creative & commercially focused mindset & approach.

You’ll need to have an appetite for learning, ability to see the big picture, strong interpersonal skills and a passion for problem solving. Overall, you’ll have strong business acumen, analytical skills and be an excellent communicator able to engage at all levels in the organisation.

You will Join us on a starting salary of £29,000, you’ll also receive a £2,000 joining bonus to welcome you to Jaguar Land Rover.
