The Department

Overview of the Role

The focus of the ESG Strategy & Development team will be to provide a hub of specialist technical expertise on ESG data and applications of ESG considerations in various styles of strategies.

The team will be structured by area of expertise with specialist focusing on data, content, product design and supporting the investment desks with advisory services on ESG investing across all asset classes. The team will work very closely with the ESG research and the GRI teams and will be part of the centralized JHI ESG function within investments.

JHI has an ambitious strategy to further evolve ESG integration and support investors with data, tools, research and analytics and in turn offer our clients innovative solutions and best in class reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to building out appropriate ESG tools to help investors assess the impact of including specific ESG objectives and considerations into strategies
  • Help build out ESG analytics, such as climate risk measurement and risk monitoring
  • Help with data and analytics in product design
  • Support client facing functions and reporting with ESG data, analysis and content when required, advise users on technical aspects of ESG data  
  • Help coordinate and support with regulatory reporting for sustainable strategies
  • Identify opportunities and take responsibility for initiatives that contribute to the success of JHI ESG capabilities

Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • IMC or CFA desired (or studying towards dependent on the level of seniority)
  • Degree educated in business, mathematics, finance, computer science, data science or sustainability discipline preferred
  • Strong data management and/or quant background
  • Coding skills (Python is desired)
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg and other market data platforms
  • Familiarity with ESG data vendors is an advantage

Compliance Requirements

At a minimum the role will require you to:

For those in scope of Knowledge & Competence (MiFID II)

  • Knowledge of financial markets, financial markets function and the impact of economic figures and national/regional/global events on markets
  • Understanding of issues relating to market abuse and anti-money laundering
  • Annual attestation
