This is an exciting opportunity to work directly for our Managing Director, Stuart McPherson, who has built the business over the last three decades and who is well known and respected across the industry.

The initial placement will be between 6 and 9 months, during which time the candidate will work closely with Stuart on strategic management of the business; learning about costing and scheduling, gaining an understanding of the legalities of the operational side of what the business delivers, as well as working very closely on some of the larger projects the company undertakes. Project work will be undertaken both within the Company’s offices and on-site.  There will be some travel involved in this role, so the successful candidate needs to be willing to send time away from home.  A flexible attitude to working hours is also a must. 

The successful candidate will also spend some time working within the various departments within the business to gain a basic understanding of the functionality of the company. After successful completion of the initial period, there will be the option of taking a formal position as executive assistant to the MD or moving into a formal Management role in one of the departments within the business. 

The ideal candidate will be well presented, possess excellent communication, time management and accuracy skills, and be confident at working at Executive level. The ability to work on their own initiative is a must, as is a willingness and quickness to learn and an appetite to support the MD in all aspects of the business. The role demands the ability to listen and to liaise articulately with clients but also requires a down to earth, hands-on approach synonymous with a family-business vibe, and a team mentality on site. 

Although based at our head office in Pinxton, Nottinghamshire, the role will require some national and international business travel.
