We’re looking for undergraduates who can answer “yes” to the above for our Summer Internship Programme. You’ll join us in one of L&G’s Retail division, gaining valuable insights over the course of the 8-week placement that starts on the 1st July.

Job description

What does the team do?

The Workplace Member Communications and Campaigns team generate the core transactional and servicing communications for Legal & General members to help them manage and stay up to date with their workplace pension.

The team also create educational content and videos, plus proactive and campaign led activity, alongside driving forward responsible investing understanding in members. Pushing boundaries to deliver next generation communications that are accessible and meet the needs of our members, while driving efficiencies for the team and business.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support the team to design and deliver regulated communications, literature and supporting activity across schemes, that support the contact and engagement strategies for members.
  • Use customer insights, analytics and data to help develop effective communication that deliver key messaging and support the organisations commercial objectives.
  • Assist the team when collaborating with third party suppliers to coordinate material delivery and help to ensure the work is delivered to brief, within budget and meets commercial and business targets.
  • Provide support preparing reports that review the effectiveness of the communications and campaigns to optimise the effectiveness of the team’s activity and improve member experience.
  • Review and manage the printed stock levels with third parties, managing the correct version control, from getting competitive quotes, through to delivery and usage, while minimising any stock waste.
  • Build effective relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, across L&G Retail and Group, ensuring our behaviours are always demonstrated, to use expertise and understand requirements, enabling efficient delivery.
  • Most importantly you will be learning new skills and gaining knowledge of how our business works!

We’re not expecting prior industry experience, but we’ll want to see that you have the tools to develop quickly. These include:

  • 2:1 Degree (any discipline);
  • You will be in your penultimate year of University (i.e. graduating in 2025)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong attention to detail
  • Analytical mind-set
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively; you are someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and a team-player
  • Curiosity and an eagerness to learn
  • Competent IT skills, including the Microsoft suite of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams

What is the assessment process? 

Our Assessment process typically involves the following stages, but may vary slightly from scheme to scheme. 

Application form

  • Captures essential information from candidate and is an opportunity to provide their CV 

Online tests

  • Includes multiple choice questions and a video interview. The online test asks a number of behavioural questions to help us understand more about candidates' strengths. There is also an analytical component which assesses numerical reasoning skills. In the video interview, we will ask 3 core questions focusing on motivation to join L&G, as well as the candidates approach to learning. 

Assessment centre (either face to face or virtual) comprised of

  • Group Exercise - candidates are given a task to work on in groups of up to 6 and observed 
  • Interview - Conducted by 2 assessors, 45 minutes including time for questions from the candidate, questions include competency and commercial based questions 
  • Presentation - 15 minutes in duration, 10 minutes to present and 5 minutes for questions from assessor
