Are you a STEM student passionate about working at the cutting edge of research and exploring new technologies? Join our vibrant Technology Scouting Unit team in Malvern and:
- Understand the physics at the limit of current material characterization technologies and help identify and assess innovative solutions.
- Explore real world research challenges and explore how these may be developed into impactful scientific instruments.
- Develop your skills in different branches of research and technology assessment, including design of experiment, simulation and modelling, technology readiness and intellectual property.

About the role
- Duration: 13 months, starting July 1st, 2024, ending 25th of July 2025
- Salary: £18,525 per year
- Benefits: 25 days paid holiday + UK bank holidays, employee assist program and more
- Location: Malvern office
- Hybrid working, based on your tasks.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a STEM degree (Physics, Natural Science, Engineering or similar) that offers an Industrial Placement Year
- Right to work and live in the UK for the duration of the placement.
- An understanding of experimental planning and how to work in a laboratory environment.
- Experience of scientific programming like Python would be an advantage.
- Creative thinking – design will be at the heart of this work.
- An interest in understanding technology challenges and effectively communicating complex research topics.
- Curiosity and desire to learn – the projects are interdisciplinary.
- A scientific approach to problem solving.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
