Role Summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Meggitt’s new Mechanical Engineering Placement Scheme on a 12-15 month placement. In this role you will work on our Aerospace Thermal Management, Wheels and Brake products produced out of our brand new, state of the art Headquarters here in Ansty Park, Coventry.

You will be taught the fundamental engineering behind the product groups and will be expected to learn quickly and contribute to the Engineering team in supporting our production, design and testing functions. You will be involved in customer technical calls with aerospace customers from all around the world.

Core Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement design improvements to our existing products
  • Develop technical design guidelines for our aerospace products
  • Review and automate production test data
  • Provide assistance for development of new products and innovative technology
  • Develop a core engineering skillset this could be one or a combination of the following:
  • Thermal Analysis Speciality (CFD – Ansys Fluent / Matlab)
  • Design Speciality (CAD - Solidworks)
  • Data Analysis Speciality (VBA / Matlab / Python / Simulink)
  • Test Engineering Speciality (Labview)
  • Contribute to STEM activities, become a Meggitt STEM Ambassador

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Be studying for an Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering Degree (BEng or MEng), other engineering degrees considered.
  • Applicant should be finishing the penultimate year of their study in 2022.
  • Should be on track to achieve at least a 2:1 degree classification
  • Fundamental knowledge of any of the following core subjects would be advantageous:
    • Heat Transfer
    • Systems Engineering
    • Control Engineering
    • Structural Analysis
    • Fluid Mechanics
  • Knowledge of and confidence in basic coding skills, this can be in VBA / Matlab / Python or similar.
  • Some CAD training and/or experience is desired but not essential
  • Some CFD training and/or experience is desired but not essential
  • Keen attitude to learn, develop and contribute to the Mechanical Engineering Team
