Product Engineering at Moog Aircraft Group Wolverhampton
Product Engineering provides technical support to our assembly and test operational areas of the business in both the Original Equipment (OE) and Global Sustainment (GS) departments, covering commercial and military sectors.
This support ranges from new product introduction to legacy support for in-service hardware. The duties of a Product Engineer are broad, and they interact with a wide range of other engineering disciplines and departments within the business.
Typical activities include leading and implementing process improvement activities, designing, improving, and organizing repair of tooling. Reviewing test equipment is also part of the role.
Product Engineers are self-motivated and enthusiastic problem solvers whose role has a direct influence on turn-around time, quality, and cost of the product.
Product Engineering Internship Placement
This is a 12-month onsite placement based at Moog Wolverhampton. Your role will be split across OE and GS, in both commercial and military sectors, providing the opportunity to effect change throughout the product life cycle. During your placements, you will report to the relevant departmental manager.
During your time at Moog, you will have the opportunity to gain first-hand product experience by interacting directly with technicians while carrying out a range of tasks. You will be involved with the Product Engineering APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) interactions.
Activities you can expect to be involved with are:
- Generation of clear work instructions for assembly, test, and repair
- Improve product flow lines
- Optimize product repairability
- Gain an appreciation of end-user product application
- Investigation assistance, participation, and resolution of engineering problems
- Exposure to production schedules and deadlines
- Participate in Lean projects to achieve operational excellence goals
You will experience and have exposure to the variety of software applications, tools, processes, and industry standards that we apply.
Skills and qualifications
- Working towards a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (E.g. Aerospace, Mechanical, Mechatronics).
- Flair for practical, hands-on activities.
- Creative, problem-solving mentality
- Pro-active and assertive
- Keen interest in upcoming technologies.
- Willing to embrace and effect change, with an eagerness to make a positive impact.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
