Our two-year programme makes sure you experience many parts of the Society, so you can see how it all works together, as well as gaining in-depth knowledge of teams specific to your chosen career path. We’re offering graduate roles within a number of different business areas: Product, Marketing, Risk & Control, Human Resources, Audit, Change, Regulated Distribution & Servicing, Member Experience and Bespoke Business Operations.

At Nationwide we openly put our 15 million members at the centre of every decision we make as a business. Every role, no matter what it’s doing, is member focused.

We need graduates who are go-getters; ambitious, driven, and full of curiosity. And we promise to give you all the opportunities you can handle to continue learning and developing to achieve your career goals.

We recently announced that from now on we’ll be recruiting where the talent is as opposed to where our offices are and therefore, we are flexible on location. With all of our Early Career opportunities you will not need to relocate. You can work from anywhere. You choose your location based on your working day.

We don’t ask for you to have achieved a certain degree subject or classification for this Graduate programme, but you must have a degree (or will have completed your degree by the time you start with us in September 2022) in order to be eligible to apply.

Please ensure you apply early, due to the popularity of our Graduate Programme we will close adverts before the application deadline if sufficient application numbers have been reached.

What you’ll be doing

On-the-job learning is crucial to understanding the skills and expertise required in any role so from the day you start, and on each of your rotations, you'll be doing a real job with clear expectations and targets. On each scheme, you’ll choose and complete several placements within your specialism.

About you

We’re all about the power of the collective, so you’ll be using your good communication skills to build strong and lasting working relationships. You’ll be a quick learner, inquisitive, always focused on solutions and have the tenacity to bring them to life. In this digital age, we need people who are familiar with all the apps and devices that make our world go around too.

Our members are at the heart of everything we do, so a passion for providing excellent customer service is a must. The path to the right result is rarely straightforward so you’ll have to be comfortable navigating challenges and managing ambiguity. As a high performing, ambitious deliverer, we’ll rely on you to be decisive, organised and proactive.

We’re also interested in who you are as a person. Why? Because our membership is made up of so many different kinds of people, so we want our employees to be just as diverse.

The extras you’ll get

As well as a permanent contract and a competitive starting salary (£28,000 pa), as a valued member of the team we offer you:

  • A personal pension – if you put in 7% of your salary, we’ll top up by a further 16%
  • Up to 2 days of paid volunteering a year
  • Life assurance worth 8x your salary
  • A great selection of additional benefits through our salary sacrifice scheme
  • Access to an annual performance related bonus
  • Access to training to help you develop and progress your career
  • 25 days holiday

Why work at Nationwide

We’re different from other financial service providers. We’re a building society, owned by our members. And for over 130 years, we’ve supported those members to make the most of their money and achieve what they want from life. That’s reflected in the way we work here at Nationwide. We come together to make sure we’re doing things in the best way possible, both for each other and for our members. If you join us, you’ll be part of that. You’ll be able to help us build something really quite special. And you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference. On top of that, we always want you to be yourself. To use your skills and experience to make our Society stronger. To feel valued for who you are, not just what you do. Because here at Nationwide, we understand that we can do more together than we ever could alone.
