Our 12-month placement gives you a valuable first look at what it’s like to work here, with real responsibility and accountability. We’re looking for undergraduates to join our IT Industrial Placement where you’ll be aligned to one of our key technical areas. You could be placed in any of the following areas - Engineering, Security or Data and Analytics.

We recently announced that from now on we’ll be recruiting where the talent is as opposed to where our offices are and therefore, we are flexible on location. Please ensure you apply early, due to the popularity of our Industrial Placements we will close adverts before the application deadline if sufficient application numbers have been reached.

What you’ll be doing

During your IT Industrial Placement, you’ll be aligned to one of our key technical areas. We’re investing more than ever in the future pipeline of engineers, so we can keep Nationwide at the forefront of innovative leading-edge technology.
We view our IT Industrial Placement as a potential feed into our Technology Development Programme so if you want further development and a career after university this is a good place to start.

About you

We’re all about the power of the collective, so you’ll be using your good communication skills to build strong and lasting working relationships. You’ll be a quick learner, inquisitive, always focused on solutions and have the tenacity to bring them to life. In this digital age, we need people who are familiar with all the apps and devices that make our world go around too.

You’ll thrive in this Industrial Placement if you have:

  • Studied for a STEAM subject (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art or Maths)
  • A keen interest in computer science and information systems
  • Drive to learn and improve and are looking for a challenge
  • A positive, tenacious and solution focused mindset

Our members are at the heart of everything we do, so a passion for providing excellent customer service is a must. The path to the right result is rarely straightforward so you’ll have to be comfortable navigating challenges and managing ambiguity. As a high performing, ambitious deliverer, we’ll rely on you to be decisive, organised and proactive.

We’re also interested in who you are as a person. Why? Because our membership is made up of so many different kinds of people, so we want our employees to be just as diverse. We’d love to hear about your values, what makes you who you are and how you’d make a difference to our members in this role.

And for over 130 years, we’ve supported those members to make the most of their money and achieve what they want from life. That’s reflected in the way we work here at Nationwide. We come together to make sure we’re doing things in the best way possible, both for each other and for our members. If you join us, you’ll be part of that. You’ll be able to help us build something really quite special. And you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference. On top of that, we always want you to be yourself. To use your skills and experience to make our Society stronger. To feel valued for who you are, not just what you do. Because here at Nationwide, we understand that we can do more together than we ever could alone.
