Process safety is one of the most sought-after skillsets in the chemical industry. We are delighted to announce a fantastic opportunity for a second or penultimate year chemical engineering degree student to work as a Process Safety Student at our Top Tier COMAH site based in Wyke, Bradford.

Working directly with the Site Safety Process Manager you will provide support to the process safety team with focus on the 5-year COMAH Safety Report gaining valuable knowledge and experience along the way!

What experience will you gain?

  • Work with members of the site team on generating elements of the COMAH Safety Report for example updates of relevant procedures and document, checking of descriptive elements, updating externally derived information.
  • Provide administrative support for the generation of the COMAH safety report.
  • Act as a scribe in process safety assessments such as HAZIDs and HAZOPs
  • Help with emergency planning for example in designing and conducting of emergency response drills.
  • Other duties to support the process safety and wider HSE teams as required.

About you

You will be studying for a Chemical Engineering degree and as a minimum, be a second or penultimate year student with a predicted grade of 2:1. You will have a passion and an interest in working in the chemical industry and have future ambitions to work in process engineering. You will have fantastic communication skills both written and verbally and a high level of diligence and accuracy.

Please note this is a student placement not a graduate opportunity. This role will be based on site Monday to Friday so you must be able to commute to the site. We are looking for the person to start this year and be fully available for the full 12 months duration of the contract.

Salary and benefits

Working at Nufarm means receiving a competitive and comprehensive benefits package and this role will pay an attractive salary of £22,620. Alongside your salary you will be entitled to our benefits package which includes competitive pension contribution from Nufarm, annual bonus, and access to a health care scheme amongst others. In addition to this we offer 28-days annual leave as standard plus bank holidays on top.

We have a flexible work life balance working Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week.
