Overview of the Department

Nuveen Natural Capital is a land-focused investment manager with $9.4 billion of assets under management. Managing assets across diverse geographies, crop and tree species and operating strategies, we provide investors access to global farmland and timberland opportunities. With over 30 years of investment experience and more than 230 employees located across 10 countries globally, the platform offers unparalleled geographic reach married with deep sector expertise.

The intern will have the opportunity to work directly with the NNC Head of Iberia with the following tasks:

  • Support the team on in-depth market research and analysis
  • Support in evaluation of investment opportunities and preparing investment memos
  • Support in financial modelling
  • Support in development of internal presentations
  • Actively support in managing portfolio properties post-investment

  • A 10-week summer program, where you will participate in a robust training curriculum, attend company functions, including speaker series, lunch-and-learns and social networking events that will offer the opportunity for career growth and personal development.
  • Ability to gain hands on experience as well as getting an overall feel for the firm/ industry by attending business meetings, delivering presentations, exploring business-specific tasks, contributing to projects and working closely with cross-functional groups
  • Exposure to Senior Business Leaders globally across Nuveen and TIAA
  • An option to secure a permanent role after graduation

What skills & competencies we require:

  • On track to attain a 7.5 or above in your bachelors degree (or equivalent) in your penultimate or final year with a degree discipline supporting finance, agriculture or environmental studies
  • A demonstrable interest for investment opportunities across farmland or timberland and a curiosity to explore emerging markets
  • Affinity for natural capital, ESG, and the reporting and metrics that support the Nuveen Natural Capital goals 
  • Learning agility to quickly assess key risks and market drivers in various geographies and drive analysis toward actionable insights
  • The desire and commitment to travel to assets and support the goals of the team
  • Examples of professional & personal commitment to excellence 
  • Good interpersonal skills and collaboration skills 
  • Strong verbal and writing skills 
  • Demonstrable competency in Excel and PowerPoint to analysis and present data effectively  
  • Must be fluent in Spanish and English

Other eligibility criteria:

  • Students in their penultimate year graduating in 2025 or final year graduating in 2024
  • Applicants who have the right to live and work in the country for where the internship is located
  • You must be able to work the internship dates of 24th June – 30th August 2024
