QinetiQ Group Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Team are responsible for provision of the global EHS management system, tools and performance reporting and improvement strategy. This matrix managed team includes a geographically dispersed pool of subject matter experts who deliver tactical EHS advice to a diverse range of global sites and operations. Functional Leadership for this team is managed through the Group Headquarters in Farnborough UK.

A global team who sets Group policy and provides functional capability to enable global delivery of our EHS strategy whilst driving a high performing safety first culture. A function who work consistently and efficiently with our customers to strengthen occupational EHS matters and support our global business to deliver our group ambition and business strategy.

Roles

Multiple UK locations – our sites are a mix of military ranges, engineering fabrication workshops, laboratories and test facilities located all over the world. Our EHS team provides support and advice on everything from conventional office work to trials on the latest military equipment and weapon systems on land, sea or air.

QinetiQ Head Office is located in Farnborough, UK, with various range, engineering, test and office locations in the UK, Europe, North America and Canada.

Occupational Health and Safety

The EHS function works closely with Group Compliance, Technical Assurance, site leadership and project/trial teams to ensure the ongoing safety and wellbeing of our staff, contractors and visitors.

Accountable for development of the EHS strategy, the EHS team own related improvement programmes and projects as well as being the Functional owners of the Global EHS policies, processes and procedures.

The EHS team provides Group level tools and systems used to monitor and report on EHS performance, including accident reporting and incident management and investigation e-systems. Environment The EHS Function includes a number of regional Environment Advisors, providing technical expertise and advice across our sites and operations, enabling responsible managers to effectively safeguard the environment and local ecology. These Environment subject matter experts are further supported by EHS Advisors who have successfully completed relevant and certificated training through an industry recognised training body.  

Who we want

Our Group EHS team is looking to recruit a proactive, passionate and forward thinking graduate with relevant qualifications and educational experience in occupational health and safety management. This background will enable the individual to step seamlessly into a Group level team and quickly take ownership of a number of development projects associated with the role.

The successful applicant will be required to successfully complete additional SME training identified in collaboration with the assigned Functional Manager and continue on their journey of professional development which will ultimately lead to Chartered Professional status.

We are looking for someone who recognises the need to continually learn can develop into the person who isn’t afraid to ask the difficult questions when need occurs; someone who genuinely wants to make a difference, helping us to make safe places even safer.

Required

  • Achieved or on track to achieve a bachelor’s degree or higher degree in a related discipline (Health and Safety Management, Behavioural Safety or similar).
  • Additional Safety or Environmental training or qualifications in a relevant specialism
  • (Desirable) Evidence of an understanding of various risk assessment methodologies, including but not limited to HAZOP, FMEA, FTA, and root cause analysis methodologies.
