This is a temporary one-year placement, open to students currently studying towards an undergraduate degree in an MEng or BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.

About the opportunity

Based within the Council’s Transportation Infrastructure Service, The one-year development programme offers a wide range of opportunities. It's designed to provide you with invaluable experience on the road to becoming a Chartered Engineer.

You'll complete a series of placements, in different teams. Through your work on live projects, you'll gain a solid understanding of what drives our organisation and how we deliver.

Within your role, you will closely collaborate with seasoned engineers across various projects, encompassing the entire project lifecycle. Your duties will entail utilising your engineering expertise to design schemes, comprehending the planning and policy framework guiding scheme development, and drafting business cases to ensure project assurance.

We offer flexible working and are introducing opportunities to gain experience across a broad range of transport functions, so this would be an ideal starting point for someone looking to carve out a career in transport engineering and planning.

37 hours per week, Full Time, Temporary Fixed Term from 1st August 2024 to 31st July 2025.

To be considered for this position you must be currently studying for a Degree in a MEng or BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
