    This role provides support for the Corporate Strategy team and the Head of Strategy and Head of Corporate Finance & Development, who are responsible for strategic initiatives, business planning, M&A, capital raising and shareholder matters.

    The team

    The candidate will be part of the Corporate Strategy team at Rothesay which reports directly to the Managing Director and CEO of the company. The team consists of 5 professionals (4 actuaries and 1 ex-investment banker) and is responsible for:

    • Capital raising: Leading projects to raise both equity and debt capital.
    • Investor relations: Liaising with both existing shareholders of the company (GIC and MassMutual) as well as potential new investors. Furthermore, the team coordinates all communication with debt investors, research/equity analysts and rating agencies
    • M&A projects: Leading projects to acquire other companies. The team has completed 2 major acquisitions and were involved in a number of substantial reinsurance and bulk annuity transactions. The team is also responsible for constantly evaluating potential new targets and opportunities both in the UK and overseas
    • Global expansion: Exploring opportunities, particularly in Continental Europe, for expanding the operations of the business
    • Strategic projects: Leading ad hoc projects which may include exploring and evaluating new product lines, recruiting senior-level executives for the business, corporate branding exercises, financial reporting (e.g. annual reports and websites) and other projects

    Key responsibilities

    • Work closely with the rest of the team on all key projects
    • Analysing financial and non-financial information on acquisition targets
    • Prepare presentations and memos for both internal and external stakeholders
    • Financial modelling for both Rothesay as well as other companies in the sector to produce valuations, financial assessments etc.
    • Monitor the competitive landscape to update senior management with important key developments
    • Over time the candidate will be expected to lead specific projects and coordinate teams, drawing on expertise both internally and externally

    Skills and experience required

    • We recruit from all academic disciplines; although a high degree of numeracy is essential.
    • Impeccable academic credentials are essential. You must have an expected degree minimum of a 2:1 or equivalent from a leading university.
    • Internships & work experience in the financial services sector is desired but not essential.
    • You will need to demonstrate a clear interest and intellectual curiosity in the financial markets and an interest in applying your knowledge and skills to the pension insurance market.
    • Fluency in English is a prerequisite.
