Want to gain first-hand experience working with an established orchestra and managing onsite events?

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) is the UK’s most inclusive symphony orchestra on a mission to bring people together through the power of music. The RPO’s aim is to share the joy of music so that everyone, everywhere can experience the inspiring sounds of live orchestral music. The RPO is driven by the belief in the promise of music to kindle the fires of the imagination, transform lives and bring joy to everyone - wherever they are and whatever they do. Wembley Park is an exciting new urban neighbourhood for Brent, with creativity and culture at the heart of this vibrant new district in London.

In 2019, the RPO and Wembley Park announced a new partnership, which will see the RPO move its headquarters to Wembley Park and the Orchestra’s musicians performing and working with local creatives and communities. In September 2021, we will present our first major public project Wemba’s Dream, a multi-arts commission programme blending dance, visual arts, spoken word and theatre with orchestral music. RPO musicians will work collaboratively with local Brent artists on pop-up performances taking place across Wembley Park , bringing a whole new audience to experience orchestral music.

We are looking for an intern passionate about the performing arts to complete a three-month intern placement to support the project production manager on all aspects of staging these new commissions at Wembley Park. The successful candidate will receive first-hand experience working with one of the world’s great orchestras and managing onsite events, as well as opportunities to learn about and experience wider event programmes at Wembley Park. This role is for an average of 4 days per week.

Application deadline: Sunday 6 June, midnight

This opportunity is open to applicants from a group that is under-represented in the creative industries. This includes, but is not limited to, Black, Asian and ethnically diverse candidates, people with disabilities and individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

Please note that you must be in commuting distance of Wembley Park as the role will require office presence in due course. Priority will be given to candidates from the London Borough of Brent.
