RPS is actively seeking a dynamic and organised Project Coordinator to join our Residues Team, providing vital support to our esteemed Laboratory team located in Bedford.

What you’ll be doing

  • Responsible for overseeing all incoming work, ensuring that all work requests are accompanied by the correct paperwork and client requirements are clearly understood and quoted correctly.
  • Ensure that trial protocols, field trial reports and chain of custody paperwork are captured and uploaded into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Conduct sample registration when required, ensuring that sample information is accurately entered onto LIMS.
  • Review and approve all work requests to ensure that jobs are booked in as per client requirements and as per RPS Quality Management System requirements.
  • Deal directly with clients to resolve any queries with incoming work prior to approving the analysis.
  • Acknowledge receipt of client samples, advising them of any changes to the analysis and/or requested timeframes.
  • Undertake sub-sampling of received samples and arrange for their transport to sub-contractor laboratories if required, completing all necessary paperwork.
  • Provide logistical support to clients in relation to arranging transport of those samples, including completion of necessary regulatory paperwork, as required.
  • To be the central point of liaison with all clients, keeping them informed of progress of their work and informing them of any issues.
  • Where applicable, work with analytical staff to identify and order reference standards and other consumables that are required for analysis.
  • As and when required, assists in other areas and tasks as directed such as sample
  • preparation, freezer stock takes, sample disposal etc.
  • Support with report drafting and pre-quotations to assist the Residues Manager as required and to provide cover for annual leave and sickness periods
  • Responsible for adhering to company Health and Safety policies to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensuring all Quality documentation is followed, adhered to and maintained in-line with our accredited ISO 17025 quality system.

Who we’re looking for

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrable ability to effectively communicate at various levels within organisations.
  • Prior experience in scientific role or from a scientific background, ideally with experience of communicating with clients on the progress of their work.
  • A proven ability to work alone or with minimal supervision.
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is required in this role.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment, and an ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Have a thorough understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Prior experience of working with a LIMS software programme within similar role and/or within the environmental, food or agrochemical sector is desirable, but not essential
