The Geosciences team provides consultancy and design services to a range of external clients including engineers, house-builders, oil companies and local authorities. Our current workload includes major infrastructure projects, housing developments, landfills and commercial warehouses.

RSK is currently recruiting for a Graduate Geo-Environmental Consultant to join our well-established and experienced Geosciences consultancy team in our Helsby office. What you can expect in this position

A Graduate Geo-Environmental consultant responsible for participating in site investigations for both geotechnical and environmental content, seeing the project through from commencement to completion. All project work to be carried out adhering to RSK Group procedures. Good communication skills needed. The candidate must work well within a team environment and be self-motivated.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with projects in around the Hertfordshire area (but could be in other areas of the UK) as directed by the Team Leader or other project staff. More specifically you will be:

  • Participating in a variety of geo-environmental projects for both external clients and for other teams within RSK;
  • Assisting with ground investigations and desk studies
  • Soil logging to current UK standards, including laboratory scheduling
  • Writing factual and interpretative reports
  • Geotechnical reporting requirements beneficial
  • Preparing factual site investigation data
  • Travel to other offices and sites within the UK (as needed).

What we're looking for

  • Hold a 2:1 or 1st class honours degree in geology, geophysics, surveying or geosciences or are predicted one in 2020
  • Clear communicator, outgoing and a team player
  • Happy to be challenged by demanding site work, and the technical interpretation and reporting of site data
  • Looking to work for the UK's leading geoscience consultancy/contractor

What you’ll need

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication is essential to the role.
  • Computer literate and skilled with Microsoft Office applications, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated, with diligence, integrity and ambition.
  • Must hold a full UK drivers licence.
