If you perform well, you could be given the chance to join one of our student training programmes that will help you kick-start your business career.

What does our financial services team do?

The assurance services provided by the financial services team include regulatory compliance assessments, risk management development and internal audit. The provision of assurance is an independent and objective activity designed to add value and improve an organisation’s operations. It helps an organisation accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance.

What can you expect?

Financial services will provide you with the knowledge of how different organisations work including banks, building societies, insurance firms, consumer finance provides and investment managers. Having this exposure gives you a great foundation to build your business knowledge. We have a varied client base, for which we deliver work either ad-hoc or as part of an annual cycle. We visit our clients to undertake fieldwork which results in documenting controls, testing strategies and our findings. Reports are then written to provide the client with the observations, recommendations for action and overall opinion. You’ll be advising clients on how they can better manage their strategic, financial, operational and regulatory risks as well as helping to identify efficiencies which will help add value to the client’s internal processes.

At RSM, you’ll be a key member of our team from day one. Our placement programme allows you to experience working in the financial services team alongside current trainees and experienced members of the firm. This hands-on early experience is invaluable as you take the next steps in your career. You’ll also benefit from on-the-job training from more senior members of the team and gain access to our internal training courses that will help you develop in the role.

What we look for

Members of the financial services team spend a lot of time working independently, so we’re on the lookout for enthusiastic self-starters who are quick to learn and always up for a challenge.

You’ll be working on a wide variety of projects, so it’s important that you’re adaptable, highly organised and have great attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential as you’ll be communicating at all levels, often explaining complex information both in meetings and in written reports. If that sounds like you, we know you’ll enjoy being part of our team.

Please note for those who perform well throughout our assessment process, should your first geographic preference be unavailable, you could potentially be offered a role in another location or facility. This would be discussed with you in this instance.

RSM will only take one application into consideration per intake. We do not accept multiple applications to different vacancies.
