Job Description

The Commercial team are responsible and accountable for Sage’s small business performance, forecasting and measurement of performance. A Graduate Commercial position will be part of our NCA team, providing a commercial skillset support to the team to help us achieve our commercial goals, help monitor performance, support product launches and go-to markets as well as improve automation and reporting to provide accessible measurement and understanding for all stakeholders.

The Commercial Graduate is responsible for deep understanding of measurement, performance, and continuous improvement of customer success against the commercial plans that underpin the delivery of all our goals. The role ensures that commercial understanding of all change and go to market activities across that specified area are to be understood across all stakeholders, are aligned to our desired customer and commercial outcomes and ultimately our business strategy and goals. This is achieved through excellent collaboration across all supporting functions and stakeholders as well as across the customer touchpoints and a very good attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the commercial results, to assist the drive of the business against the market, competitors, trends and products.
  • Support the development and execution of customer journeys to achieve better commercial outcomes and delivery.
  • Partner with Marketing to create data-driven marketing channels, to drive higher sales and deeper marketing campaigns to further deepen consistent messaging across our various distribution channels
  • Partner with Product Marketing Managers process to create robust and stretching commercial plans which are well thought through, precise and achievable.
  • Help to build robust and precise financial budgets and forecasts for the business.
  • Co-ordinate the execution of all change within that plan which will impact customer and commercial outcomes.
  • Actively measure our performance against our defined commercial and customer outcomes, producing performance insight and driving corrective actions as required.
  • Assist the creation of a deep understanding of our plans and the communication of their performance across all specified touchpoints and customer journeys.
  • Produces “so what” analysis based on deep understanding and insight/research gathered…. turning this into structured and well thought out requirements that feed product, marketing and commercial strategies
  • Routinely produce a schedule of risks and opportunities within the specific area of accountability against the existing commercial forecast.

Skills, know-how and experience:

  • Numerically strong with an ability to both create and interpret financial and sales information including performance, forecast and opportunity sizing.
  • Thrives when working in a fast-paced environment, where colleagues need to be supported, drive and influenced to deliver bigger results whilst keeping momentum.
  • Experience in customer/commercial planning and development.
  • Strong track record of building growth strategies and plans based on data and insight.
  • Strong communication and writing skills in English and ability to work across business lines.
  • Exceptional team player with proven ability to lead through influence.
  • Flexible and dynamic, able to demonstrate energy and agility in order to deliver goals and inspire others.
  • Passion to understand the needs and priorities of customers, with a strong desire to exceed their expectations.
  • Demonstrate a deep sense of accountability and confidence in decision making
  • Excellent organisational skills, previous experience leading projects

Entry Requirements:

A relevant STEM/Business and Accounting degree or an alternative degree supported by a keen interest in Commercial Analysis.
