Job summary

You will be part of a team who are responsible for a particular product throughout its lifecycle from introduction to field operations till obsolescence/end of life. You will apply Mechanical Engineering skills to assist in providing innovative, reliable and cost-effective solutions for our field personnel who regularly operate these tools and face continual challenges of reliability and cost.

You will have the challenge of investigating downhole failures and perform root cause analysis to arrive at the problem and cause, and then provide solutions. Our tools operate in the challenging environment of oil wells at temperatures up to 200 degC and pressures of 30,000 psi. and shocks (500 G’s) - up to 30,000 ft from the rig, communicating with the surface through various methods, hence any redesign of the internal components of the tools need to conform to these specifications.

Within a multi-disciplinary team, you will collaborate with other experts (electrical engineers, software engineers, mechanical engineers, physicists, designers, etc.) to execute your projects. You will also perform technical planning for introduction of these changes in the field, test and validation, authoring of functional specifications, and contribute to the development of new principles and concepts.

Essential responsibilities and duties:

Your responsibilities will include designing complex mechanical devices/assemblies, conducting both lab & field tests, analyzing test results & preparing technical reports. You will interface with the technical staff from other disciplines, our international customers, and field personnel from domestic and overseas Operations organizations. The tools used for the conceptualization, modelling and creation include Creo, ANSYS, and MathCAD.

Qualification

Studying towards a Bachelors or Masters in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Competencies

Required skill:

  • Positive attitude and aptitude to learn on the job
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
  • Mechanical systems assembly/disassembly aptitude/exposure
  • Competent at verbal and written communication (English)
  • Ability to work in a team and with strong service and quality focus

Exposure to any of the following would be a plus:

  • Creo, ANSYS (Structural, Fluent), MathCAD, Any PLM software (Matrix)
