The Data Analyst will work in the analytics team on games by SEGA Europe’s mobile studio, HARDlight. As part of the studio’s Live Operations team, you would be responsible for developing queries of game data and producing visualisations to inform and assist the whole studio on the performance of existing and in-development games. You would be working closely with all parts of the studio to identify and track both Key Performance Indicators and detailed feature data to provide insight into what will deliver business impact and further engage our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and maintaining analytics queries and dashboards including main KPIs
  • Perform deep dives into specific game features to understand their impact on the behaviour of our players
  • Working with the internal Design, Live Ops, and Management teams to define and analyse game metrics to support wider business decisions
  • Present and explain patterns in data to a wide audience
  • Identifying areas for improvements in existing and future games, including optimising retention and monetisation
  • Writing reports for summarizing work done across all elements of the role
  • Working with other SEGA departments to make use of a variety of data sources to constantly improve game experience for our players
  • Working with Engineering teams to design, implement and test new analytics before they go live

Knowledge, skills and experience

Required

  • Confidence in data handling, statistical and visualisation tools such as Excel, SQL, Tableau
  • Strong communication skills both in a technical and non-technical context
  • Self-motivation and excellent organisational/documentation skills
  • Ability to act as an ambassador for data across the company
  • Passion about both data and games
  • Good problem-solving skills – able to think critically and holistically about data
  • Creativity and interest in looking beyond the immediately available data
  • Ability to provide actionable insights based on the results of data analysis

Desired

  • Experience in the games industry, ideally on free to play games
  • Ability to work with a full data pipeline, from defining a schema in initial design through to querying, visualisation and modelling the gathered data
  • Experience with cloud technology such as AWS or Google Cloud
  • Knowledge of industry specific KPIs
  • Experience with AB testing both in the design and implementation of experiments
  • Experience with other data analysis technologies, Python (Pandas/NumPy), R

We are taking a hybrid working approach and you will be expected to work 3 days in the office with the option of 2 days out of the office.
