Siemens Rail Infrastructure is seeking a proactive and engaging individual to work within a professional team delivering exciting rail electrification projects across the UK. Our Planners assist in the production and analysis of project programmes and reports relating to project controls. You will report into a Senior Planner and will be actively supported through, on-the-job learning, a competency development framework, peer-to-peer collaboration and professional development/technical training. The innovative ideas you bring will help us adopt new methods and technologies in a rapidly changing world.

The challenge

You will be working closely with internal project teams and will be involved in client facing environments to help deliver projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.

  • Join ongoing projects at various stages of delivery, supporting our Project Managers to deliver project objectives
  • Apply the skills and theory learned in education into real-world ambiguous circumstances – this will test your lateral thinking
  • Work on projects that renew and / or enhance the power infrastructure of our clients that include engineering, manufacturing, installation, test & commissioning.
  • Principally, support the preparation of accurate project programmes ensuring that targeted packages of work are secured with a profitable potential
  • Widen and deepen your understanding of the different constraints applied to projects that can impact delivery methods (contract, time, cost, quality, politics, etc).
  • Conduct site visits and engage with site teams to verify project progress and further understanding of site operations and the challenges faced by site teams.
  • Become involved with critical interfaces between all stakeholders including but not limited to rail possessions/access, design dependencies, booking of critical resource, client requirements and subcontract capability.
  • Support our business planning framework, working with stakeholders to ensure clear visibility of upcoming projects
  • Work closely with teams from other departments, coordinating their support on our various projects to engage subject matter experts and create common understanding
  • Develop and deliver integrated reports using tools such as Primavera and MS Power BI to provide insight into project performance

  • Be a recent or new graduate with any degree, awarded at 2:1 or above in Project Management, Engineering Management or an Engineering degree with a clear interest in progressing their career.

  • Proactive nature – you take the initiative and get things done
  • Have some experience/work-experience/internship in a Project Management, Project Planning or related department, but it’s not essential
  • Ability to work, communicate effectively and report at all levels within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Flexible and proactive approach to work, and ability to prioritise and manage your time effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to make correct judgements
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and occasionally abroad for project meetings and FAT attendance
  • Are up for travelling as part of graduate rotational position. We want you to experience the different sites and areas of our business, so each placement may be in different UK locations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Visio).

The total rewards' package for this role includes a salary of £28,000 per annum, plus an annual bonus. We know that not everyone’s lifestyle is the same, so we operate a flexible benefits scheme where you can tailor your benefits package to suit.

This role can be based in York/Coventry or London.
