Internship Overview
This summer internship will last approximately ten (10) weeks, commencing at the beginning of June 2022, and concluding mid-August 2022. Interns will sit in our London office, and have the opportunity to work on various projects with Portfolio Managers, Research Analysts and/or other senior professionals throughout the firm. Interns can expect to complete the program having learned about SFM’s business and culture, built product/industry related knowledge, and begun to build a professional network.
Role
The European focused long-short equity team within the London office of SFM UK Management LLP is looking for a summer intern for June to August 2022. The team consists of generalist analysts and this will be a great opportunity for a summer intern to learn about various businesses and sectors while gaining exposure to the investment process.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct analysis of specific companies that are identified as potential investment opportunities
- Build detailed financial models
- Undertake research projects into specific sectors and themes in order to understand the industries within which a company operates
- Undertake valuation analysis in order to assess the over or under valuation of a specific company
- Present conclusions to the rest of the team in order to inform investment decisions and make investment recommendations
- Assist with management team interviews
Key requirements:
- Strong academic background (min. 2.1 at undergraduate degree level)
- Intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn
- A demonstrated interest in and passion for investing combined with a desire to analyse companies and investment opportunities
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced performance-driven environment
- Basic understanding of financial accounting and equity valuation techniques
- Excel skills would be advantageous
- The right to work in the UK
- Available full time from early June 2022 for 10 weeks
