This year we are delighted to offer a number of graduate opportunities for candidates with a real passion for IT and technology, to join our programmes based at various key locations across the UK.  This is an exciting opportunity to really put your learning into practice, and develop practical skills in an environment where you'll be fully supported and encouraged to be your best.

Due to our size and diversity, we can offer you a structured yet challenging development programme where you'll have the support of a Graduate Programme Manager and a business mentor to assist you in reaching your full potential.  The programme will support your career development into a permanent role with SSE that reflects your experience and passion.

What will I do on the programmes?

Depending on the programme you choose, you could be involved in a broad range of exciting projects across the UK .  All roles are likely to involve some travel to other sites to gain practical exposure to a wide range of business areas, therefore a full UK driving licence would be an advantage but is not essential.

Here's a flavour of some of the exciting initiatives you could be involved in, for each Division.

Corporate Services - IT (Reading, Perth, Havant) - we are responsible for managing and securing the IT infrastructure across the whole SSE Group.  From emerging technologies to data & analytics to cyber security – we power SSE’s growth and enable it to generate value, while keeping it secure.  As a trusted business partner that helps SSE lead in a low carbon world, we are proud of our service.  By joining our team, you will help SSE deliver on it's promise to equip SSE with the technology needed now, and in the future.

For this programme, you'll ideally have a minimum of a 2:2 degree in any relevant STEM subject.

Distributed Energy - Digital Services (London & South East) - we use digital technology to leverage information across all elements of the local energy infrastructure to help to achieve maximum effectiveness of energy use across multiple connected assets.

For this programme you'll ideally have a BSc Computing & IT degree or combined with a STEM subject.

Distributed Energy - Customer Services Experience (Portsmouth) - we support and investigate technology to enhance our customers' experience through systems integration and developing self-help platforms.

For this programme you'll ideally have a Business Studies/Software Systems/Integration degree.

By joining our team,  you’ll help support our vision to help the UK towards achieving net zero carbon by 2050.

What do I need to join?

You'll be passionate about technology, have a genuine interest in IT and will be looking to put this into practice in a business environment, where we are focussing on developing technologies and infrastructure that supports the business in meeting the UK net-zero ambitions.

We’d love you to have practical work or project experience that reflects your passion for all this tech, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team.  You’ll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges.

You should have an interest in how technology can benefit and improve the energy sector, and show alignment with SSE's core values. We also ask that you have a flexible approach to work locations and be genuinely committed to developing a career with us – as we are with you.

SSE welcomes applications from all nationalities. Please note that any successful candidate must be able to evidence a valid right to work prior to commencement of employment.
