Distribution are looking for graduates to join our Land & Consents team. You will be working to secure, maintain and manage strategic land and property rights across a portfolio of projects for our electricity distribution network in order to support a net carbon zero future.

With the rapid acceleration of renewable and distributed energy solutions, millions of new electric vehicles on our roads and a revolution in the way we heat our homes, we’re at the leading edge of this change, building a strong foundation to meet new demands and make a net zero world a reality for our customers and communities.

We’re investing in our infrastructure assets which are spread far and wide across our licenced area in the North of Scotland & Islands and Southern England, to accelerate progress towards a net zero world whilst ensuring a safe, resilient, and responsive network.

In this role you’ll be responsible for securing consents for the construction, installation, refurbishment and replacement of underground cables, overhead lines and plant on both public and privately-owned land.

We’ll equip you with skills training and the professional competency you need to become a Land Consents Manager. We’ll enhance your knowledge and experience by giving you the opportunity to work within different departments within SSEN.

Across the two years of the programme, you’ll gain real hands-on experience, build an invaluable network and develop a unique set of skills which will shape your career. Due to our size and diversity, we can offer you a structured yet challenging development programme where you'll have the support of the Graduate Programme Manager and a business mentor to assist you in reaching your full potential. The programme will support your career development into a permanent role with SSE that reflects your experience and passion.

What do I need to join?

You’ll ideally have a minimum of a 2:2 degree in either a Geography, Agricultural, Law, Rural Enterprise and Land Management.

We'd love you to have practical work or project experience that reflects your passion for the role, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. You'll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges.

You should have an interest in the energy sector and show alignment with SSE's core values. We also ask that you have a flexible approach to work locations and be genuinely committed to developing a career with us – as we are with you.

All roles are likely to involve some travel to other sites to gain practical exposure to a wide range of business areas, therefore a full UK driving licence would be an advantage but is not essential.
