We're looking for software Engineers for a 12-month industrial placement within our company.  You will be working for a highly renowned organisation that is part of a multi-national group of companies and promotes a creative and dynamic work environment.  Our organisation produces market leading, large-scale, distribution and supply chain software products used by customers worldwide and is undergoing substantial growth, including at the graduate level.

You will join one of our skilled teams working within a demanding and growing environment. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience within a sector-leading and multi-award-winning organisation.

There are two business areas within TBA Leicester which have an opening for a placement Software Engineer.  An outline of each area and key technologies used is given below.

Business line: Terminal Operating System (TOS)

Autostore TOS primary aim is to control the movement and storage of containers in and around a container terminal. The objective of a TOS is to provide a set of computerised procedures to organise cargo, machines and people within the facility to enable a seamless link to efficiently and effectively manage the facility.

Key technologies

  • Development coding using C#, .net core, EF core, Docker & latest Visual Studio
  • SQL Server Database
  • Development methodologies such as Domain Driven Design & Design Patterns

Business line: Warehouse Management System (WMS)

Autostore WMS handles a combination of manual, semi-automated and fully automated warehouse configurations.  The objective of a WMS is to give users the tools to control and manage storage of pallets within racking as well as inbound and outbound operations and the control of handling equipment such as fork-lift trucks.

Key technologies

  • Development coding using C, C++, C# and Jaspersoft for user reports
  • Oracle Database
  • Dual running on both Windows and Linux OS

What are we looking for?

You will work within one of our cross-functional agile development teams and report to a team leader. A desire to learn and a passion for customer excellence is a must. 

To be successful in this role we're looking for candidates who have had exposure to the same technologies we use or similar, whether this is whilst studying, during work experience or any other environment.

  • You will hold a good set of A levels, or equivalent, and be currently studying a BSc Honours Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent
  • Highest ethics and integrity.
  • The ability to multi-task and the discipline to meet strict deadlines.
  • An understanding of Software Development methodologies and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as a detail-oriented approach.
  • Good interpersonal skills and enthusiasm to collaborate closely with colleagues.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English, to both your colleagues and customers at a non-technical level.
  • Be highly motivated, with the self-discipline to manage workload and meet strict deadlines.

What you'll do 

  • Writing front end and backend code and working with APIs and databases
  • Using Azure DevOps for software development lifecycle
  • Collaborating with co-located and remote team members
  • Opportunities to pair program and code review other team members work
  • Liaising with stakeholders and refining user stories
