To work within a multi-discipline technical team to design, qualify and commercialise a range downhole completion technologies.  As a member of a small group of specialists the primary focus is the mechanical, electrical and software development of downhole systems.

The Graduate Engineer will use their knowledge gained from University and practical experience to develop and support engineering in the creation of new concepts to meet the customer’s requirements.  The Graduate Electrical Engineer will be required to assist in the design and preparation of surface and downhole electronic systems, componentry and firmware under supervision.  Assist in the scheduling of resources and in mentoring less experienced/qualified colleagues.  Development would be over a number of years working closely with our experienced engineers through on-the-job training, formal training courses and hands-on project work.  Flexibility and initiative are also key elements of the role.  

Key Activities

  • Provide innovative & unique solutions to Tendeka technical challenges
  • Complete feasibility studies on conceptual solutions
  • Creation of detailed manufacture/assembly drawings/documents and performance calculation packages
  • Control of Product Data Maintenance (PDM) information
  • Preparation of design packages for performance of design review.
  • Preparation of test procedures, reports & assistance to workshop personnel as required
  • Provide support to other areas of the business in relation to technical matters
  • Liaise with clients as required for any specific project requirements

Qualifications / Competencies

Essential: A degree or similar type qualification/experience in a technical subject or equivalent.

Experience Skills and Knowledge

  • Understand of the fundamentals of mechanical, electrical systems, software and completion products.
  • Demonstrate an ability to plan, control, and take responsibility for own work.
  • Have good communication skills, along with an ability to work in a team environment, as well as an ability to work unsupervised at times while exercising initiative to resolve potential problems.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of general engineering principles and the product development process.  
  • Understanding of downhole hydraulics and oilfield completion products.

The ideal candidate would have had exposure to some of the following

  • Experience/knowledge in the design & testing of electronic circuitry.
  • Experience/knowledge in battery technology
  • Knowledge of Oilfield technology would be beneficial
  • Programming experience, Python 
  • Experience/knowledge of motors, sensors and control engineering
  • Experience of 3D modelling software (Solidworks preferred)
