Graduates play a critical role in our Finance teams, which are embedded within every part of Tesco. The size and scope of our business ensures you’ll get wide-ranging and fascinating experiences across the three years of the programme. You could be providing analysis to business leaders that inspires change in our stores, creating and landing financial plans and budgets for the year ahead, contributing to the writing of Tesco’s Annual Report, or working with our international shareholders in Investor Relations.
During your programme we'll support you through your CIMA studies, with paid leave and the breadth of experience you’ll need for the practical requirements of the qualification. You’ll also be supported by your colleagues - a dedicated programme team, a mentor and one-on-one director sponsorship.
Whether it’s building the technical skills required, or the communication, analysis and insight capabilities essential for the finance professional of the future, this programme will ensure the best possible start to your finance career!
Who we are looking for
We’re looking for quick learners who are keen to work in a fast-paced environment. You’ll need to be a great teammate, and able to accurately and confidently apply the technical skillset learned in your CIMA studies. While fully supported every step of the way, you’re someone who thrives on responsibility, challenge and problem solving.
What you need: 2:2 degree
CIMA
Successful completion of CIMA’s Professional Qualification will lead to the designation of Associate Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). The qualification is recognised worldwide as the most relevant global finance qualification for a career in business.
Management Accounting combines accounting, finance and management with the business skills and techniques you’ll need to add real value. Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMAs) are qualified to work across businesses, not just in finance, advising managers on the financial implications of big decisions, formulating business strategy and monitoring risk.
Working at our Welwyn Garden City campus
Our leafy, green campus is just 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of Welwyn Garden City with its many shops, restaurants, pubs and sports facilities. Close to the A1, and with frequent trains running to Finsbury Park in just 20 minutes (free shuttle buses take you between the station and office), the campus is well connected to the surrounding area.
On campus, you’ll find subsidised restaurants and coffee shops, as well as a Tesco Express to pick up your lunch or last-minute essentials. You can join the on-site Nuffield Health gym, which has state-of-the-art fitness equipment, two studios for group classes, plus treatment rooms.
Your experience with us
Induction
We’ll kick off with a two-day induction, where you’ll learn more about our business and your programme. It’s a great opportunity for you to meet your fellow graduates. We’ll then introduce you to your team, so you can get to know more about your role and the area you’ll be working in.
Store experience
Within the first six months, you’ll spend two weeks working in one of our stores. You’ll learn how our stores operate and how they link to your role or project, which is crucial for serving our customers a little better every day.
Programme structure
You’ll gain a breadth of finance experience and skills as you complete three placements in different parts of our department.
