Pen Undewriting rare currently looking for a new Business Analyst role (BA) in an exciting role working within the Chief Operations (COO) division to help deliver detailed strategic business requirements for new underwriting functions / lines of business! You'll also be required to build close relationships with the relevant Business Subject Matter Experts in delivering those solutions

The BA will be the interface and point of liaison between the business and the IT/3rd Party Software Houses (SWHs) to optimally integrate both technology and business processes from design/detailing requirements through to implementation of solution/process and its onward transition into BAU. You'll also proactively identify and champion opportunities to further streamline our business process.

Core responsibilities

  • Delivers business requirements for the Business within the context of :
    • Understanding of the strategic direction of the Business
    • FCA and London Market regulations and direction
    • Technical and process knowledge of existing Pen Systems
    • Detailed knowledge of Business processes and challenges
    • Market and competition awareness 
    • Return on Equity and Investment
    • Resource, budget and delivery challenges
  • Supports the Programmes & Process team in developing options for delivering tactical and strategic platform changes
  • Creates feasibilities that can be used by the Business to make an informed decision on whether the IT work will benefit the business and therefore should be progressed
  • Work with the Business to translate business requirements & service excellence needs into formal, structured IT/3rd Party SWH requests
  • Leverage existing projects, systems, and capabilities as appropriate, to maximise benefit to the Business
  • Establish two-way communication channels between the Business and IT/3rd Party SWHs in order to maximize opportunities to develop common understanding of the key drivers of both
  • Evaluate business processes, anticipate requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest process and IT advancements to automate and modernise systems
  • Supporting the validation of test plans or creation of UAT plans, scripts and approach
  • Develops and delivers required training to support the deployment of approved processes and operational best practices
  • Conduct meetings, workshops and presentations to share ideas and findings
  • Provide training, coaching, and guidance to junior team members
  • Ensure solutions meet business needs and requirements
  • Update, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures
  • Prioritise initiatives based on business needs and requirements

Your skills, experience and qualifications

  • Superb communication and stakeholder management skills [and presentation skills]
  • Experience of working within an Agile delivery team 
  • Experience of Acturis Product and Platform Development is necessary
  • As-Is” and “To-Be” Process mapping
  • Excellent analytical & interpretive skills including documentation of functional and non-functional requirements
  • Able to handle and process large amounts of data
  • Solid understanding of use of insurance technology to support business and create and deliver strategy in line with insurance underwriting lifecycle

Education / qualifications

  • Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent
