Who we are

Thales Integrated Airspace-protection Systems (IAS) UK designs and manufactures a range of cutting-edge technologies ranging from air surveillance and mission planning systems to missile and space propulsion systems.

The company specialises in lightweight missiles and the integration of weapon systems into various platforms along with the systems to manage and exploit critical mission planning and air surveillance data.

The role

As a Software Engineer you will be expected to be involved in the design of state-of-the-art Systems that deliver world-class performance. You will be working and learning alongside a multi-disciplinary team of 28 Electronics Engineers, who are some of the most experienced Engineers in the industry.

Your role will span the entire product lifecycle from requirements capture and analysis through to defining the system architecture and building, testing and verifying that the solution meets the customer’s requirements.

The Software role will require participation in all aspects of the software development process. Activities to include:

  • Software requirements analysis and requirements management
  • Understanding and implementing software development lifecycles and methodologies to optimise solution delivery
  • Programming in a high level language (C, C++, C#)
  • Complex data communications and networking
  • Software test planning and execution
  • Software configuration control
  • Working with embedded real-time operating systems

Who you are

Essential skills & qualifications

  • A relevant Engineering, Scientific or Numerate degree subject (BEng / BSc minimum)
  • Ability to demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills in an Engineering context
  • Ability to communicate effectively within a diverse, professional environment
  • Ability to demonstrate self-motivation, be innovative and use initiative
  • Able to overcome barriers and make things happen in complex situations
  • Team working skills
  • Eager to learn and develop your Engineering career with Thales

Desirable

  • Engineering work experience and / or the application of Engineering knowledge and skills in real life situations
  • Ability to demonstrate the application of the software development process (as per activities listed above).
