We’re looking for a dedicated and passionate Wilder Communities Officer to lead a programme of work engaging communities within our Wild Peak project area.

The role

In the Wilder Communities Team our purpose is to work collaboratively and inclusively to ensure that everyone can have the opportunity to notice and connect with nature, wherever they live. By achieving this we will improve health and wellbeing through connecting more people to nature.

In this role you’ll inspire and enable people to be involved in nature recovery projects, Junior Rangers, Nature Tots and school visits. You will develop our work with communities through volunteer projects and community organising approaches and support communities to improve biodiversity in their local area.

To be successful you will be passionate about supporting community action, improving people’s wellbeing through nature connection and inspiring others to care and act for nature.

About you

This role might be right for you if:

  • You have experience of working with community groups to help them take action for nature.
  • You are passionate about improving people’s wellbeing through nature connection and inspiring others to care and act for nature.
  • You are confident in engaging and informing groups from all backgrounds.
  • You are confident to deliver talks to schools, landowners and community groups.
  • You have significant experience of developing and leading volunteer programmes.

This role will be based at our office in Middleton although a balance of home and office working will be allowed. We are a local charity so applicants should be easily able to access our office and other locations around the county.
