We are looking for a Junior Data Analyst with a passion for making our transport network safer. In this role you’ll be responsible for monitoring and completing data reporting requests from other areas of TfL. The information you produce will enable the business to drive improvement in Safety, Health and Environment performance and solve organizational problems.

TfL’s Safety, Health and Environment directorate is responsible for ensuring our customers and colleagues are safe at work and when travelling on London’s transport network, by providing evidence and insight to help target safety improvements. The directorate looks after the health of colleagues, and promotes positive action for the environment to reduce emissions and improve air quality. In this role, you will work closely with teams from across the directorate to ensure they have the information and knowledge they need to engage with the business and improve SHE outcomes.

The team uses tools and technologies such as R Studio, Power BI, Azure and SQL to manipulate, visualise and analyse a breadth of data. We’re not expecting you to be an expert in all of these but are looking for someone with a motivation to learn and get stuck in to using them.

Key Accountabilities

  • Delivering and generating progress and quality reports to customers to support reporting requirements and performance tracking across the business.
  • Performing quality assurance checks on data to ensure data used for reporting and performance monitoring is accurate and useful.
  • Supporting business decision-making by answering data requests to guarantee that the business use evidence-based decision making.
  • Translating business requests into technical specifications to ensure the right data and analysis is provided to the business.
  • Troubleshooting data processes to ensure reporting processes and data are accurate.
  • Managing relationships with internal customers to provide a good customer service.
  • Complete FOI reporting in line with legislative requirements to support data transparency and provide the public with open data.

  • Working knowledge of writing data reports and commenting on trends (Desirable)
  • Working knowledge of business intelligence tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau) (Desirable)
  • Working knowledge of writing complex queries (Desirable)
  • Working knowledge of large data sets (Desirable)

Experience

  • Experience of using databases to store and access data (Desirable)
  • Proven experience of data analysis and identifying trends (Essential)
  • Experience of working in Business Environment (Desirable)
  • Excellent mathematical skills, particularly in statistics (Essential)
  • Proven track record of presenting successfully (Essential)
