We are seeking talented and enthusiastic penultimate year civil or structural engineering university students to join the Trust for an internship in our structures team. We have plenty of work that you will get the chance to be involved with, take a look at our website and LinkedIn to get an idea what we do!

The role is likely to involve

  • Low-carbon building design
  • Architectural structures and bridges
  • Historic buildings and retrofit
  • Structural design engineering and analysis
  • Design optimization and digital engineering

Attributes

Professional qualifications and core knowledge are expected to include:

  • Studying a relevant degree accredited by either the Institution of Civil Engineers or the Institution of Structural Engineers and graduating in 2025.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Structural Engineering, including:
  • Understanding of and ability to describe structural behaviour
  • Ability to analyse structures through a combination of hand calculation, sketching and software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, or equivalent

Expedition Engineering

Expedition Engineering is an award-winning engineering consultancy responsible for designing iconic structures such as the Velodrome, the cable car and Chiswick footbridge in London. We also work at small scale, having recently completed the structural checks for the Hop sculpture was installed on the South Bank, London.

In addition to structural engineering, Expedition is involved in masterplanning and civil engineering projects, as well as leading on innovation to challenge traditional methods of construction, such as in the AVA footbridge design.

As well as setting a fair salary for the internship, we offer to advance pay part of the internship salary to help those for whom finances might be a barrier to application.
