Join our award-winning vet graduate programme in Canterbury city with excellent links to London and a highly experienced team to support your development.

We’re looking for a newly graduated, or about to graduate, Vet to join our friendly small animal practice on our two-year graduate programme and work full time (no out of hours) with our supportive, close knit team.

The role

David, our Vet and Joint Practice Owner has over 10 years’ experience and is an excellent all-round vet and supportive mentor. We also have a visiting orthopaedic vet to give you exposure to a wider range of cases, but we’ll take your training and development at a pace that suits you so there’s no requirement to step into their shoes any time soon!

Our nursing team has a wealth of experience too, and consists of 3 full time, and 1 part time, RVNs. Joint Practice Owner and Nurse, Tineka, trained and has worked alongside Head Nurse James for over 10 years, newly qualified nurse Caitlin keeps us on our toes with her new-found knowledge and enthusiasm whilst Leila, our part time RVN, and Tineka first worked together over 20 years ago!

Leila brings vast experience and works part time lecturing the new RVNs of the future so is always looking to improve us. Pam, our wonderful Receptionist, is truly a joy to work with. She has been a receptionist for more years than she would confess to and looks after us and our large, loyal client base.

We’re based in a purpose-built practice inside a Pets at Home store on the Riverside Retail Park in Canterbury. There’s plenty of free on-site parking, we’re on the local bus routes and we’re only a 15 minute walk from the train station. Our practice is built to industry leading standards and is fully equipped with ultrasound, digital x-ray, endoscopy and bronchoscopy.

Canterbury is a beautiful city in its own right with plenty to see and do but with the bright lights of London only an hour away and international airports within easy reach its also a brilliant place to base yourself.

As well as your role in practice you’ll take paid leave to attend the tailored CPD events we hold for our graduate programme. The high-quality events we deliver as part of the programme usually comprise subjects such as practical dentistry, practical surgery, radiography, dermatology, cardiology, and more.

What we offer

In addition to the support and CPD you’ll receive on the programme we offer all the benefits you’d expect from a major employer (pension, healthcare, paid memberships, life insurance, competitive salary etc.) plus a few more!

  • Starting salary of £35,500 with reviews after each year on Programme
  • Professional memberships paid
  • Exclusive lifestyle and shopping discounts with up to 30% off at Pets at Home, Pet Plan insurance discount, cycle to work scheme and more
  • Approximately 10 paid CPD days (clinical and non-clinical) per year with no financial/contractual tie-ins
