Join our 2024 Graduate Development Programme.

Our award-winning, 2-year programme is designed by vets to give new graduates like you, the best possible start to your practice career.

Halesowen is bordered by green belt with good access to the countryside. It is well connected being close to junction 3 on the M5 and 7 miles from Birmingham city centre.

About the role

We are a 3.5 vet practice (every vet either holds or is studying towards a certificate) with 4 RVN’s, 2 SVN’s, and 1 ANA , 5 reception staff and a Practice Manager (RVN). The clinic sees a varied caseload with a high proportion of insured clients. We are exclusively small animals comprising approximately 45% dogs, 40% cats, 10% rabbits, 5% small other fluffies and reptiles. Our days are scheduled with 15 minute consults, allowing double for our graduates, with a catch up/break scheduled every 4-5 consults. Leaving on time is prioritised. Our last appointment time is 6:45. The clinic closes and phones are switched over at 7pm with 30mins of protected time after for calls/notes. There is also 15-30mins (depending on shift length) of time given in the middle of the day for calls, usually immediately post lunch which is a 1 hour break.

Passionate about high quality care, we have all the usual toys plus dental x-ray, laparoscopy, endoscopy, Kyon TPLO equipment, harmonic scalpel and K-laser. Both JVP’s are highly experienced surgeons. One is a certificate holder, the other is in the final stages of completion. We aim to keep the majority of our caseload in house, but we are within 45 minutes of a quality referral hospital if needed. We would be keen to develop a candidate's own interests with certificates encouraged and funded.

Joining one of our network of UK practices, you’ll train on the job with experienced Veterinary Partners and Practice Owners, at a pace that works for you. We’ll find you a role that suits you, in terms of location and culture fit. And, with Vets for Pets and Companion Care practices of all shapes and sizes across the country, there’s a perfect place for everyone!

With our support, and emphasis on your wellbeing, you can realise and maintain your full potential in an environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance too.

You’ll be supported from day one by a dedicated Vet GDP Advisor, as well as the graduate and clinical teams, and online by 1,300+ vets within our clinical community.

You’ll also be able to take paid leave to attend the tailored CPD events we hold. The high-quality events we deliver as part of the programme usually comprise subjects such as practical dentistry, practical surgery, radiography, dermatology, cardiology, and more.

As you build your confidence in caring for pets and their owners, you’ll grow your own client base and see continuity of cases with the support of your wider team. You will have a phased approach to sole charge and better still, when you’ve finished the programme there’s a career waiting for you, either with the practice you trained at or within our wider community/network.
