Handforth Vets for Pets is looking for a graduate vet to join their team and our award-winning graduate scheme on the September 2024 intake.

Job description
Having opened in spring 2021, the practice has a high calibre of equipment and mod-cons, and is based on the Handforth Retail Park, under 30 minutes from Manchester City Centre and only 5 minutes from Manchester International Airport, making it the perfect location for get aways, or trips home during your time off.
You’ll be working alongside two vets as well as a team of RVN’s, VCA’s and non-clinical support colleagues who go above and beyond to allow you to focus on the role of a vet. Our practice can offer you the environment, caseload and equipment needed to utilise the skills you have gained to date, whilst also giving you plenty of opportunity to develop further, with support for postgraduate qualifications, CPD and training in your areas of interest.
This is a full time position, with weekends are on a rota basis with limited cover to keep it fair for everyone, and there’s no OOHs. We pride ourselves on team wellbeing and therefore make sure to have protected breaks throughout the shifts.

You’ll be supported from day one by a dedicated mentor/Vet GDP Advisor, you’ll also be able to take paid leave to attend the varied CPD programme designed by vets specifically for new graduates. As you build your confidence in caring for pets and their owners, you’ll grow your own client base and see the continuity of cases with the support of your wider team. You won’t be in sole charge of cases until you’re ready.
As a standard on the Graduate Development Programme, we offer a 2-year programme with no financial tie-ins, guaranteed starting salary of at least £35,500 per annum with reviews each year on programme, 10-12 clinical/non-clinical structure CPD days a year with covered travel costs, access to wellbeing support and free membership of wellbeing app and support with practice transfer should the need to arise.
