Newtownabbey Vets for Pets is looking for a new or recently graduated vet to join their team and our award-winning graduate scheme.

Situated at the edge of Belfast our bright, spacious, air-conditioned surgery has all the expected kit including in-house bloods, X-ray, ECG/multi-monitor, Ultrasound; and nice less well-known additions like a hyrefractor diathermy unit and heated anaesthetic circuits.

About the role

You will join a dedicated, supportive team made up of 2 experienced vets, 3 full time registered veterinary nurses and 2 student nurses, and 3 VCS/receptionists. As a team we believe in supporting each other and creating an enjoyable work environment, but a priority to all our colleagues is creating a good work life balance.

With genuine support and emphasis on your wellbeing, you can realise and maintain your full potential in an environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance too.

You’ll be supported from day one by a dedicated mentor/Vet GDP Advisor, you’ll also be able to take paid leave to attend the varied CPD programme designed by vets specifically for new graduates. As you build your confidence in caring for pets and their owners, you’ll grow your own client base and see the continuity of cases with the support of your wider team. You won’t be in sole charge of cases until you’re ready.

We work off a 36-hour week, and make sure every single bit of overtime is returned as time in lieu or extra pay. You will be required to work 1 in 3 weekends on a rota basis, no OOH!

As a standard on the Graduate Development Programme we offer a 2 year programme with no financial tie-ins, guaranteed starting salary of at least £35,500 per annum with reviews each year on programme, 10-12 clinical/non-clinical structure CPD days a year with covered travel costs, access to wellbeing support and free membership of wellbeing app and support with practice transfer should the need to arise. We also arrange fun social activities where you can engage with your fellow graduates! To find out about more about our award-winning Graduate Development Programme visit our website here.
