WithSecure is a leading cyber security consultancy with a recognised history of generating world class research. Our consultants identify problems, evaluate security threats, assess risk and implement solutions to defend against the latest threats in cyber security. They also regularly speak at major conferences including DEF CON, Disobey and Black Hat, and our clients include some of the most prestigious in the world.
Spend your summer developing your hacking skills, researching cutting-edge security topics, and gaining hands-on experience working with our cyber security specialists.
WithSecure is offering paid summer internships with our consultancy team, where interns will have the opportunity to experience cyber security consulting in the real world, as well as work on a security-related research project. The length of the programme is typically 10 weeks long, and successful internships may lead to full time employment.
The role
Interns at WithSecure complete practical training courses in areas including application security, network security, reverse engineering, and more to provide them with the core technical skills required by security specialists around the globe.
A range of research projects are available, and there is flexibility if candidates have a project or idea they would particularly like to work on.
Upon completion of training, interns work side by side with WithSecure's world-renowned researchers to investigate an area of their choosing. Past research topics have included cloud security, the Windows kernel, vulnerabilities in IoT devices, and machine learning applications to security. Successful intern projects often turn into public vulnerability disclosures, educational material for the community, and conference talks.
Interns will be based in our London office and will be assisted by our current WithSecure consultants and researchers.

What you'll get

- A research project in an area of your choice. Usually there's a list of projects people want you to do, but we're also keen to support interns' original ideas!
Who should apply
- Current students expecting to graduate in 2025 or later are encouraged to apply
- You do not have to be a computer science/cyber security student (or a student at all). We care about your capability and curiosity, not the title on your degree
- People who are passionate about cyber security, and who already know some of the basics. We're not expecting you to be an expert, but ideally you'd have done some CTFs or personal research (we love to hear about those things!)
- Right to work in the UK is required - unfortunately, we cannot sponsor visas for this position
