About the role

WSP is looking for a number of consultants to join its industry-leading Intelligent Transport Services team. We provide consultancy and engineering services to transport clients throughout the UK and overseas.

We are continuing to secure exciting new projects and are therefore looking to grow our team by recruiting a range of consultants – from recent graduates to individuals with extensive consultancy experience.

Working within the Operations and Safety Group, our consultants work with clients to explore challenges and trends in the transport and mobility space, identify. develop and advise on solutions to transport issues. We work across the whole lifecycle of projects providing expertise in areas including: safety risk assessment, transport operations, emerging mobility trends and future transport, feasibility studies, project appraisal, business cases, safe systems approach, traffic and safety analysis, stakeholder management, customer impacts, digital design, digital customer, data driven operations, sustainability and decarbonisation of transport and a range of future ready initiatives.

Our current projects include trials of connected and autonomous vehicles, a large range of tasks providing specialist consultancy skills in policy, technical support and assurance, several smart motorways schemes, management of Highways England’s CHARM (Next generation strategic traffic management control system) and TOC (Technology Operational Capability) programmes.

A typical week would include:

  • Scoping issues and developing methodologies for addressing them
  • Strategy development and planning
  • Researching and gathering evidence
  • Carrying out qualitative and quantitative data analysis
  • Identifying scheme risks and mitigations

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • A degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g. engineering, transport studies, geography, psychology, liberal arts) or are a technician with BTEC, HNC/HND and an appropriate level of experience
  • A proven track record in a consultancy role or can demonstrate the aptitude and skills required to provide excellent consultancy support
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to undertake qualitative and quantitative data analysis
