About the role

Here at Zimmer Biomet Bridgend Plant have a Fixed Term TEMP Graduate Engineer position in our Engineering department available.

The holder of this position will be responsible for the engineering aspects of the day to day running of the  assigned area and execution of projects related to CI, NPI and new equipment introduction in conjunction with the Engineering Manager, NPI and other supporting functions.

The position holder will strive to deliver world class, cost effective engineering solutions through sustainable engineering practices in accordance with the appropriate Medical Device Regulations. (FDA, ISO-13485, etc) as part of the Business Unit.

Principal duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for the Day to day engineering activities within the assigned area.
  • Ensuring all equipment and fixturing/tooling is fit for purpose and available in the required quantities.
  • Designing and introducing new processes for the area that meet the specific needs and requirements of the area.
  • Drive productivity and cost savings through equipment and efficiency improvements, lean techniques and scrap reduction.
  • Accountable for the health and safety aspects of existing and new equipment in conjunction with the Area management, Engineering Management and the H&S Officer.
  • Work with the Maintenance department, other engineering functions and operations to minimise equipment down time across the shop floor.
  • Ensure all key project milestones and operational requirements are met.
  • Lead and deliver projects related to the area, defining timeline, costs and outputs for the projects.
  • Identify external vendors to supply and support suitable equipment and tooling in the most value added and cost effective manner.
  • Prepare and submit technical reports and presentations related to process engineering activities and equipment.
  • Provide operating manuals and supporting documentation for all processes and equipment developed within the process engineering group.
  • Adopt a collaborative and inclusive approach ensuring good communication links across all disciplines as part of the Business Unit team.
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in world-class best practice in relation to the processes and equipments employed within Zimmer Biomet
  • Pro-actively participate in your own learning and development.
  • Any other duties commensurate with your position.

  • Ensure all key project milestones are met (New equipment introduction and CI activities) to the required standard.
  • Develop the knowledge base and skill sets of the department to ensure we have expertise on all special equipment and processes implemented on the shop floor.
  • Minimise equipment down time in the assigned area to maximise operations productivity.

Education/experience requirements

  • Bachelors degree, higher diploma or equivalent in an engineering, or a related discipline

(Note: Additional education can be substituted for experience and vice versa.)

Travel requirements

Additional working hours outside standard contracted hours may be required to ensure project deadlines are met. Occasional visits to other Zimmer Biomet sites, equipment and materials suppliers and trade events/ conferences Possible international travel to Europe, Asia and the Americas.
