Why did you join the HSBC UK grad programme?

I joined mainly because I had such a great time on my Internship, thanks to the friendly and supportive culture within HSBC. I also liked the rotational nature of the grad programme as I felt it would give me a great opportunity to learn and explore different job roles.

Briefly describe your time on the programme?

My journey on the graduate programme has been one of growth. Engaging in various projects that were completely new to me has pushed me beyond my comfort zone in a good way and has widened my skill-set. This experience has taught me to embrace the unknown, fostering a greater sense of confidence and adaptability.

What has been your biggest success during your time at HSBC UK?

My biggest success has been leading the comprehensive re-write of the Power of Attorney and Bereavement procedure for our frontline colleagues.  I learnt a lot and enjoyed collaborating with multiple stakeholders to achieve this.

How do you find working in a hybrid environment? (CGPT)

I really like it. I appreciate the flexibility it offers as it allows me to have a healthier work-life  balance by structuring my working week in a way that suits me.

How would you describe the graduate community here at HSBC UK?

It's great! With a wide range of committees and working groups to engage in, its easy to stay connected with other graduates despite working in different teams. These groups also provide valuable personal development opportunities, helping me gain practical skills for my work life.

How would you describe the working culture at HSBC UK?

The bank places a strong emphasis on personal development, which I find great. Additionally, the supportive nature of the people and their encouragement of a healthy work-life balance contribute to an excellent working culture.

Are you involved in any extracurricular activities at HSBC UK?

Yes, I'm involved in Ethnic Diversity Early Careers Community (EDECC) working group where I'm a member of the events and volunteering team. My role has provided me with opportunities to plan and co-host networking events and Zoom sessions. Additionally, I have volunteered in schools with the working group, teaching about banking and financial awareness. I'm also part of the Embrace ERG (Employee Resource Group) in the career development team where I assist in the planning of events and workshops.
