Meet our society partners: UCL Law Society and UCL First Generation Society

About UCL Law

In existence for over 70 years, the UCL Law Society is one of, if not, the most, lively and interactive of all student societies. We pride ourselves on our diversity and originality. We are students, elected by students, working with students for students. We organise a range of events for our members, including career events, competitions, socials, sports, publications and pro bono activities. We are proud to have our efforts acknowledged in 2019, having been awarded the “Best Society for First Year Students” and nominated for the “Best Society for Aspiring Barristers” and “Best Society Overall” by in the LawCareers.Net Student Law Societies Award 2019.

Their goals

We aim to create an inclusive community for our members and give them opportunities to develop themselves and reach their true potential.

About UCL First-Gen

The UCL First-Gen Society was established in 2018 with the following aims and objectives:

  • To provide an inclusive and supportive environment for UCL students of the first generation in their family to attend higher education.

  • To support disadvantaged students more broadly and prospective UCL students through widening participation and outreach work.

We aim to do this through regular pastoral and professional events as well working with UCL’s Widening Participation team. In our short existence, we have organised a number of social events as well as successful workshops and networking events to support our members’ careers ambitions.

The society is thrilled to be partnering with Bright Network thanks to which we will be able to provide our members with even better support and resources.
