This five-day programme will show you what working in Digital Innovation with us is like so you can determine if it’s the right career path for you.

Our Women in Technology Insights Programme is a paid programme in our Sheffield office that provides insight into what a career in Digital Innovation at HSBC looks like.

The programme has two intakes

Women in Technology for First Year university students will run from 15 – 19 April 2024. Applicants must be available to attend each day of the programme and will need to be in the UK. The First-year programme is now closed for applications.

Women in Technology for Penultimate Year university students will run from 22 – 26 July 2024. Applicants must be available to attend each day of the programme and will need to be in the UK.

Sheffield - Summer Insight Programme

Requirements:

  • Available to work full time from 22-26 July 2024 in the HSBC Sheffield Office
  • Currently in your penultimate year of study expecting to graduate in 2025
  • Obtained, or expected to achieve, a 2:1 Degree classification / 3.2 GPA or higher or overseas equivalent to this
  • Fluent in English

Additional information

This role is open to students from all degree backgrounds, it may be of particular interest to students studying a STEM degree. Applicants must have their own Right to Work in the UK upon completion of their degree. Applicants must be able to work in Sheffield from 22-26 July.

Start date: July 2024 onwards

What you’ll do

You’ll develop confidence in a business setting and understand more about Digital Innovation at HSBC. Through the programme’s interactive sessions, you’ll see what we mean by thinking digital-first when we develop new products and services.

You’ll work with mentors who represent the various technology teams supporting different Global Businesses and Functions, and our female colleagues will share insights from their career journeys with you. You’ll also hear from some of our Inclusion and Diversity networks and support groups.

Who you are

The programme is open to all students from any degree discipline.

  • For Women in Technology First Year, you’ll need to be a first-year student studying on a three-year degree or a second-year student studying on a four-year degree.
  • For Women in Technology Penultimate Year, you’ll need to be in your penultimate year of an Undergraduate degree programme.

What you’ll learn

You’ll gain insight into a career in Digital Innovation and learn about our technology teams across Cyber, Data and Engineering and their personal career journeys and experiences.

You’ll be introduced to how we’re using emerging technologies to deliver digital-first banking for our customers.

Women in Technology First Year

Following the end of the programme, you may be invited to attend a Virtual Experience Day and be considered for a 10-week Summer Internship the following year. Participants with the right to work in mainland China and Poland may have the option to be considered for a Summer Internship in mainland China or Poland.

Women in Technology Penultimate Year

Following the end of the programme, you may be invited to attend a Virtual Experience Day and be considered for a 2025 Graduate role.
