Bright Network member, Nicole Omatsone, tells us about her time at Vodafone after securing a place on the Technology Discover Graduate Programme.

How did you hear about the Vodafone graduate scheme?

I heard about the technology graduate programme from a Bright Network posting and received a phonecall and email about the opportunity and how to apply.

What is your favourite thing about working at Vodafone?

The freedom to think and innovate. At Vodafone opinions are really welcomed and valued, this aspect is definitely my favourite knowing that you contributed, even if it’s something small, is a wonderful feeling and Vodafone really embraces this.

What has been the biggest surprise?

Flexible working, this is another one of my favourites. At Vodafone quality is definitely preferred over quantity and this is really motivating. The flexibility that Vodafone provides is refreshing as being able to sometimes work in my own space is relaxing and I feel like this helps me make more valuable contributions.

What can be challenging about working at Vodafone?

I find that the most challenging thing about Vodafone is mixing and integrating with colleagues. At Vodafone a lot of contact is done virtually although this is easier, because of different locations, there is a lack of face to face contact.

Why is Vodafone different?

Again the ability and room to innovate and always provide input makes Vodafone different, at Vodafone you do not feel like just an employee but an appreciated, valuable member of the Vodafone team.

Top tip for graduates applying to Vodafone’s Group Discover Programme:

Take your time when answering questions and don’t rely purely on academics, other life experiences are just as valuable and just as appreciated.
