Tell us what’s so great about being a Graduate at Arm?
Being an Arm graduate is great because I’ve been able to meet so many clever and hardworking people. I’ve made friends with many of the other graduates in my cohort as well as making many connections and learning from those in more senior development positions. Overall, Arm is a great place and culture for graduates to develop their skills in a real-world context.
Why be a Graduate at Arm and not another technology company? Why did you choose Arm?
I chose Arm due to their company culture – Arm are well-known to care a lot about employee wellbeing and work-life balance. This suits me well, as I believe it’s important to have a life outside of work.
Arm also care about social issues such as gender and race equality, with many people working hard to make improvements in such areas both within the company and in the greater community.
If you had 5 minutes in a lift to sell someone a Graduate job at Arm? What would you say? What key things would you mention?
I would mention Arm’s culture and attitude to work life balance. With key benefits such as flexible working, one paid volunteering day each year as well as Arm’s strong commitment to social issues, it’s a brilliant place to work. Not only this, your work at Arm makes a real difference in the world, due to Arm’s prevalence in the field of technological IP.
What’s great about the technology you get to work with?
It’s great to know that the code I write makes a real difference in the world. Bugs I find could potentially prevent crucial vulnerabilities in Arm’s designs later down the line, which is increasingly important in our evermore connected world.
What is the “Life at Arm” like?
Arm has a brilliant culture with many opportunities for both personal and professional development. I’ve been able to take part in many volunteering opportunities including running workshops, hackathons and helping with FIRST Tech Challenge.
What have you learned so far? Any specific training you’ve had?
I’ve been able to develop my C and Python skills, getting hands-on experience with real-world code. I’ve also undertaken training relating to the Arm architecture and SystemVerilog, which has also been very interesting.
What makes you proud to work for Arm?
I am proud of Arm’s open and honest culture. Unlike many other companies, Arm has a culture of trust, providing a great environment for employees to learn, innovate and grow.
Have you progressed in your Graduate role since joining Arm?
I have been able to develop both my independence as a programmer and my confidence through Arm’s volunteering and social opportunities. It has been a great experience so far, and I’d definitely recommend Arm to others looking for their first tech role
